Azure
Governed Azure architecture for secure modernization, migration, resilience, identity and predictable operations.
Overview
Azure services cover landing-zone architecture, policy and identity controls, workload modernization, networking, backup, disaster recovery and operational governance.
- StructureManagement groups, subscriptions and Azure Policy baselines.
- IdentityMicrosoft Entra ID, RBAC and conditional access.
- NetworkVirtual networks, NSGs, private endpoints and firewalls for segmentation.
- ResilienceBackup, replication and Defender integrations with central monitoring.
Technical scope
- Azure Landing Zones. Management groups, subscriptions, policy baselines, resource organization and governance guardrails.
- Identity & Access. Microsoft Entra ID integration, RBAC, privileged access, conditional access alignment and least-privilege review.
- Network Security. Virtual networks, subnets, NSGs, routing, private endpoints, firewalls and segmentation.
- Migration & Modernization. Application discovery, dependency assessment, migration waves and modernization planning.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery. Backup architecture, recovery objectives, replication planning and disaster-recovery validation.
- Security & Compliance. Defender integrations, policy compliance, security posture review and centralized monitoring.

Architecture and how it works
Core components are connected through defined control points so that implementation, monitoring and operational ownership remain traceable.

Tools and deliverables
Deliverables document the management-group and subscription hierarchy, policy assignments, RBAC role mappings, network topology and backup and recovery settings. Each recommendation references the affected resource and the control it improves.

Common questions
How are management groups and policies organised?
Management groups and subscriptions mirror your environments, with Azure Policy baselines inherited from the top so new resources start compliant. Guardrails enforce standards such as required settings without blocking delivery teams, and exceptions are handled through policy rather than ad hoc manual approval.
How do RBAC and conditional access work together?
RBAC defines what each identity can do on which resources, while Entra ID conditional access decides when sign-in is allowed, based on factors such as user, device and risk. Privileged roles are limited and reviewed against least privilege, so standing administrator access is kept to the minimum that operations need.
How is network traffic segmented in Azure?
Virtual networks and subnets are separated by workload, with NSGs, routing and firewalls controlling traffic between them. Private endpoints keep platform services off the public internet, and segmentation limits how far an attacker can move if one workload is compromised, which also simplifies compliance evidence.
How is disaster recovery validated?
We agree recovery time and recovery point objectives with you, design backup and replication to meet them, and then test failover so the targets are proven rather than assumed. Test results are documented, and any gap between the objective and the measured result becomes a remediation action before a real incident occurs.
